How do I disable ALL service checks on host at once?

Post by Jdawg2002 »

Hello, how do I disable ALL service checks on a particular host at once without having to disable each service check individually? Currently, to do this in Nagios Enterprise, I have to disable active checks for each service on a host and this can be very time consuming and prone to error.

The only way I see how to do this is to go to 'Advanced' in the Host's status detail. Then, under 'More Options', click on 'See this host in Nagios Core'. Then, I click on 'Disable checks of all services on this host'. It would be very convenient and would make sense to me if this functionality was listed under the 'Quick Actions' on the 'Host Status detail' in Nagios Enterprise - and not have to access the 'Nagios Core' screens.

Is there a better way to do this? Thanks for your help.

From the Nagios XI web interface click on the host->Advanced tab->See this host in Nagios Core (under "More Options")->Disable checks of all services on this host (under "Host Commands").

Note: You can also select: "Disable For Host Too".

Click on "Commit"

Thanks, thats what I figured. In my opinion, it would make more sense to add it to the 'Quick Actions' menu under Host Status Detail in Nagios Enterprise. It seems to me that this is a common action (disabling all service checks on a particular host at once) that takes place often. Instead of clicking on a tab and 2 links, it would make things easier to have it on the host status page - this action is currently very unintuitive, in my opinion. Also, from an interface/continuity point of view, the Nagios Core interface has a different look and layout and having to 'drop' from the Nagios Enterprise in to the Core interface seems odd.

Thanks for your help.
