custom variables for a host are disappeared

Post by cskang »

I am running NagiosXI 2011R1.7 on VMplayer guest CentOS hosted on Windows 2008 Server R2.
I have created a host called, CiscoRouter, using Monitoring Wizard choosing "Network Switch / Router" device option.
Then, I entered the coordinates of CiscoRouter in Googlemap.
I have noticed that the Misc tab of CiscoRouter host in Core Configuration contains a couple variables - see attachment CiscoRouter-Misc-beforeDup.JPG.

However, these variables are disappeared after the sequence of the following actions:
1. Duplicate 'CiscoRouter' host into another host, CiscoRouter-1
2. Then delete the duplicated host, CiscoRouter-1.

Attached images shows in chronological order:
1. the misc tab of CiscoRouter host after created using Monitoring Wizard as a "Network Switch / Router"
2. host web page in Core Config shows both CiscoRouter and the duplicated host CiscoRouter-1
Then, CiscoRouter-1 is deleted without running 'Applying Configuration'.
3. Deleting CiscoRouter-1 results in disappearing variables of original CiscoRouter - see attachment CiscoRouter-Misc-afterDupNRemove.JPG

When these variables are disappeared, the original host, CiscoRouter, is not shown on the Googlemap.

In my opinion, those variables of the original host should not be deleted when the duplicated host is removed from Core Config.
Could let me know whether this has already been identified and resolved?
If yes, how I can obtain the patch on NagiosXI 2011R1.7?

I believe this was fixed quite some time ago, but you are on a very old version, the upgrade instructions are found by searching our normal documentation site, or going to the downloads page of Nagios XI, or even following the instructions in your XI server when it warns you that you are out of date:
