Nagios XI_ Service Details and SNMP Traps

Post by divya9raj »

Hi, I would like to know if the SNMP Traps service can list down all the alerts/traps in the 'Service Details' tab in Nagios XI and not only show the recent received trap/alert. I would like them to display as in the SNMP Traps displayed under the 'Notification's tab; listing all the alerts and not one the recent one. Please help on this. Would really appreciate this. Thank You.

This sounds like you really should look into NSTI. You can certainly look at the alert history for a particular service and see what has previously happened there. However showing them purely in a service detail page is not supported.

So, NSTI can help in the view of all the alerts of that service snmp traps? As I understand from you that we can't have this list view in the services details page, and is it like we can't have it all listed in the services details at all or Nagios doesn't allow us to? Thanks :)

Right, service details is reserved for the latest up to date information as that's what admins need to help troubleshoot issues on the object they are monitoring. As Sreinhardt mentioned, getting historical data is simply not a feature of the Details page's Host or Service.

Oh okay, understood and got it better now. And I have tried using the NSTI and it works well. That should be fine for our monitoring purposes. And I would like to know if we can adjust the alert severity levels according to the alert type defined in our remote device for these SNMP Traps, and not manually changing the alert level from Normal to Warning and so on? Please help me on this. Thanks :)

A solution to the above may be the inclusion of NSTI:

Going to lock this up as the initial request has been resolved. Certainly let us know if issues arise.
