What metrics do you wish to monitor on AIX 7? What agent would be ideal to have support for?

Did you compile NRPE from source on those boxes? If so, did you run into any 'gotchas'?

Umm, this requires a detailed response :)

We could not compile from scratch, as the compiler is not installed on the servers(security). All the versions I found did not enable command line option, finally someone here linked me to one. It was a crazy manual install and I had to rewrite most of the checks so they would work with a very stripped down install of AIX. I'll see if the AIX admin can zip up the install and I will add to the Exchange and of course link it here. I'll do that this week sometime, but I just wanted to make sure this user knew 7.1 does work with NRPE and someone is actively monitoring servers with it.

As I recall, @srikanth.kallu had our agent working on several of his AIX 7.1 boxes, but the "official word" was we only guaranteed support on 5.3 & 6.1 as these are the only versions we tested on.

I also recall some of his systems were missing required packages causing it to fail. This would still be a requirement....

That sound like the same issue I was having and caused me to re-write most of the checks for AIX. As I said, I'll get them posted and he can try them if he'd like. The other nice thing is they work with 5.x, 6.x and 7.x vanilla installs.

Great. We will leave the thread open in anticipation of the exchange link.

I dont have any issues regarding aix 7.1.

All my agents on aix 7.1 servers are working great.

But last time when i had issue support gave up on me saying that they will not support 7.1

All i was expecting is official word from support.
