Only send SMS for critical alerts

I have a multitech SMS modem and use the component in XI to utilize it. Most of the people receiving alerts would love it if they got emails for warning and only received SMS for critical alerts. I know that this would require a feature request to get the Notification Preferences be by notification type(come on Nagios team!!!), so is my only option right now to set them up a second account in XI that has email alerting off and sms alerting on. And have that accoutn only set to send critical warnings and in their original and main account, turn off sms alerting?

Precisely. This is not the first time we have heard the beating of the feature request drums concerning this exact request. You should pile on and request it at tracker.nagios.com. In my opinion, it should also be implemented for escalations as well.

As for now, your assumptions are dead on. Two users per user are required to do this (one for warn, the other for crit).

Yeah, I'll create a feature quest and I completely agree with the escalation comment. However, if you use the xi notifications, then escalations would be handled by the same feature I want..
