My case was:
2 contact groups
both were contacts for the host
1 group was a contact for all services
1 group was a contact for some services (but not all)
Turns out, if a contact (or contact group) is a contact for the host, they will see all the host's services. (no choice)
My workaround is to remove the second group as a contact for the host, then make that group a contact for just
the services they are responsible for.
(And make sure one of those services is a Ping check or other host-related service so both groups can tell when the host is down.)
