Nagios XI and Core 3.5.1

Post by jwelch »

Silly Question #1: Should I manually update Nagios Core 3.5.0 to 3.5.1 on my XI systems or wait for an XI update that includes Core 3.5.1?

It is not recommended. If this creates an issue on your Nagios XI server, you would be on your own, since your XI instance would not be supported.

So the answer is wait for an XI update. That's fine. This is the first time I've noticed a bump in Core so I wasn't sure what the normal procedure is. I checked the FAQ upgrade section but didn't see anything relevant.

In this, and many cases, we backport any major patches that have been tested and need to be implemented. We may just not officially increment the version number. I know there are a few minor updates core has, but nothing that would be a security or functionality concern.
