Well now, did we just discover the issue? It seems that the snmptt user does not have permission to write to the nagios.cmd file. Lets try adding the snmptt user to the nagcmd group.
I don't think you should have to restart anything. The only other part I might mention, would be removing the files in /var/spool/snmptt/ if they don't start clearing out.

no, still not happenin.
Is there a command that I could run that would display the permissions and owners for the needed directories?
i am still getting the permissions error when I try to import a mib from nagios, as well as our other issues.
Tell ya what man. How about if we do a remote session this week. I'd like to wait until nscott is in just to be sure if I have any questions I cannot answer directly. Hopefully we should be able to get this worked out within an hour or so.

thanks bro. anytime in the next 2 mins works for me. =d when might we hook up? gotta give the big guys an estimate, nothing set in stone youknowhowitis =( in the meantime should I just leave everything as is, or try that step by step reinstall I had this working on the 30th.. i know I am missing THAT setp, the OOOOOOHHHH thats it! step of doom.
2 minutes eh? bit short of a timeframe for me. Nick is in through 1:30 tomorrow and all day friday, so whatever time after 9am CST either of those days is fine with me. Also I would not think we need to reinstall. Let's get your current install working since it does seem so close.
Edit: I may have found it, as there was an issue with sending % signs to syslog, and some of your traps do have them. which iirc your setup is doing by default. let me see about a resolve.

Ah windows land, so much easier, until you can only fix stuff in hidden registry settings. Sent you a link for the connection.

regiwhat? =D I was saying that working with linux makes you think more than with windows. No insult intended. I actually like linux over windows, I just don't understand it yet. Windows is like driving someone else car, or growing up with an aunt who hasnt taken the plastic off the couches. Linux is driving or living in the car\house that you built. give me 30 and we can get this resolved.
