Well, I hate to say it, but after finding the timeperiods that you have listed, I cannot tell you what happened short of mrtg must have decided that the data was bad or incomplete during this period. Let's look at a couple other things though. How far, physically and hops, is the nagios server from this router? Are you continually seeing this issue, or was it just that small period of time?

This has never graphed, I have attached the year graph. It has only been going for a couple of weeks but I have never seen output

OK, technically that is based on yet another rrd. Let me find the location of where that is and I'll have you send that to me as well. Meanwhile I'll try some tests with the check that runs against the mrtg rrd.

edit: Should be /usr/local/nagios/share/perfdata/[hostname\IP]/Port_10101_Bandwidth.rrd and .xml. Both of those files in a pm please.

As another note, I dumped your rrd to xml, and the timestamps state that it is being added to only once a day. Are your checks actually run once every 24 hours? This would definitely present an entirely different issue, being that averages need data about once every 30 minutes at a minimum.

Checks should be every 5 min. Do not remember if I put that in the pm.

My mistake, the xml output restricts it down to once per day without additional parameters. I can see that it is collecting once every 5 min. I don't think we have run mrtg through a debug run yet. Could you run the command below and send me the mrtg.log file please.

Code: Select all

env LANG=C /usr/bin/mrtg /etc/mrtg/mrtg.cfg --debug="snpo,tarp" --logging /tmp/mrtg.log

Spencer,

Still having this issue, it dropped off my radar for a bit. Here is the last MRTG info you requested. If need be I will be at the conference next week we could carve out some time to get you directly on the system to look

Thanks,

Dave

It looks like you started receiving different errors on the 26th (today). Did you attempt to implement any changes concerning mrtg today?

It looks like mrtg was not running for months, is that correct?
