Nagios 4.0.0

Post by MPIvan »

Hi all,
I start installing Nagios 4.0.0 on Ubuntu Server 12.04.03 LTS, and installation of it went well (without errors), but the installation of the plugins gave me some error on "make" command.
check_http.c: In function Б─≤mainБ─≥:
check_http.c:150:12: warning: ignoring return value of Б─≤asprintfБ─≥, declared with attribute warn_unused_result [-Wunused-result]
make[2]: *** [check_http.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/tmp/nagios-plugins-1.4.16/plugins'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/tmp/nagios-plugins-1.4.16'
make: *** [all] Error 2
i also try to register Nagios daemon and have this as error .
root@mpnagios:/tmp# chkconfig --add nagios
/sbin/insserv: No such file or directory
nagios 0:off 1:off 2:off 3:off 4:off 5:off 6:off
root@mpnagios:/tmp#
I have now clear Ubuntu Server 12.04.3 LTS ... what do i have to do to make this step by step to install Nagios Core 4.0.0 ? Because after the installation of the Nagios went well, i have error on the Web page on nagios when i went to host part.

Any suggestion ?

Well i didnt save that error ... and now the server is formatted and i was willing to start all over again, but im waiting for some installation guide, because i have to finish this till 1st of October. So i dont know if start all over again with this 4.0.0 version or to go back with 3.5.1 ? The error as i remember, is not saying any thing just "Error: Could not read host and service status information! " And to check the configuration . nothing specific

Well, you could continue testing 4 and we will help, or you are welcome to revert to 3.5 and wait.

If you need stability, never upgrade right away. Core 4 will have some bugs that need to be ironed out, that is for sure. If this is for production, stick to 3.5 for now.

EDIT: If you want to test drive core 4, use a test environment first, before deploying to production. It was only released a week ago.
