Hi,
I'm evaluating Nagios XI. I installed the trail version on our VMware platform and updated it to the latest version. I created a Contact (external user) who needs to receive events when something happens. I configured it all and nagiosadmin receives e-mail messages. I created a hosts which is monitored by Nagios XI and uses a contact group which holds the nagiosadmin account and the contact. The nagiosadmin account receives the e-mail but the contact does not.
Report-Notifications shows information that it issued a notification to the contact but when I monitor the smtp server it only shows a outgoing e-mail for the nagiosadmin and not for the contact. I've added the contact to the xi_contact_generic template and I filled all options for hosts and services in the common settings tab of the contact object.
Does anyone have an idea ?.

Hello ,
You most likely need to enable notifications.
-Go under Configure
-At the bottom choose Change your account settings
-on the left pane chose Notification Options and Notification Methods
Be sure that this is checked off, you may also want to go through other settings as well to be sure and do some testing.

Thanks for the quick response. Well I created a Contact object only. If i'm right I cannot logon to Nagios XI to alter the account settings for a Contact object. Or do I need to create a normal user object with the option (Create as Monitoring Contact:) enabled ?. What I would like to do is to send altering messages to an e-mail address only.

Use the XI interface to create contact-only users as well. If you need to modify settings for this user you can use the "masquerade" feature from the User Management page in XI.
Take a look at the Users and Contacts doc for more info in XI. These roles are handled somewhat differently than Nagios core.
