Duration Times

Post by airserv »

When we're looking at the Views, the Duration times aren't calculating correctly. If there are two active alerts, the math on the duration times is exactly the same, even though one has been open for a longer period of time. Something doesn't seem right about that feature in XI.

The Duration is for the Status(OK, Warning, Critical, Unknown), not the alert its self.
If these alerts are for the same service and they are within the same 'Status Change' then the Durations should be the same.

hmm, I would think that the duration time would be related to how long that particular host / service was in that state; or at least that's what we would hope for.

Your last post parrots my response, that is you think and hope correctly. Your original post suggests this same operation as a problem. You seamed to want the duration to start over after every check, regardless of state.

Perhaps you could describe your self better?

An Alert happens after every check. These Alerts are used to build the services' State. The duration is reset every time the State changes, not every time there is an Alert.

This has been verified to be a bug in the service detail screen. We located the bug and have a code fix that will be released as 1.1G in the next day or two. See the tracker bug report: http://tracker.nagios.com/view.php?id=12
