I'll guess a little. I hope be be sure in a few days, as that's why I
modified check_ping.

But my guess is

serv1 would have interfaces like

'196.168.1.1,10.0.1.1'

serv1-a and serv1-b would be child hosts to serv1

They would have interfaces like

196.168.1.1 (for serv1-a)
10.0.1.1 (for serv1-b)

That's what I'm planning on trying, at least.
