[Nagios-devel] nagios documentation translation

Post by Guest »

Hello list,

We've decided at nagios-fr.org to translate the nagios 3 documentation =20
in french. We've started a reflexion about how to do it and the tools =20
needed for. Here are some thoughts about that i whish to share with =20
the community.
Docbook seems to be a good format to keep a documentation source code =20
tidy. It is well suited for a project like a software documentation. =20
Do you think it could interesting to keep the original documentation =20
in this format ? It could be easier for translators around the world =20
to keep in sync with the original source tree maintained in subversion =20
(or cvs, git whatever you want). The second advantage would be the =20
possibility to keep the original structure of the documentation intact =20
between translations. The third is the possibility to "print" a =20
docbook in PDF, HTML, ODT, RTF... What do you think about that ? Could =20
be good for everybody or is this just a non sense ? Is there a better =20
way to achieve this ?
feel free if you have any advice about translating doc projet in =20
foreign language you can give us.

Thanks

Olivier Jan
