Assign Contact Groups to Host Groups

Post by DonB »

I wanted to see if there was a way to assign a contact group to a host group or vise/versa? I did see the ability to bind the two together with Host/Service Escalations. But if I use this option on the first alert, the State History log will show that the alert was escalated on the first alert. I would like it to log only when it has truely escalated, as an example, after 3 alerts with no acknowledgment. Then I would get the correct logging under the State History for that host or service. But from what I see there isn't an object definition to assign a contact group to a host group or vise/versa.

Thank you
Don

You are correct that the two objects cannot be directly related. The proper way to do this is to use host templates. You can then add the contacts and hostgroups you want to the template, and then apply the template to the hosts.
