iSeries Monitoring

Post by BanditBBS »

Scheduled a meeting tomorrow to test http://exchange.nagios.org/directory/Pl ... 00/details with my iSeries guys. Anyone that has used that have any hints for me to help my meeting go smooth? It seems pretty straight forward and we'll be testing in a dev environment of course.

Nagios Team: Leave this open until after my meeting tomorrow, I'll update after with any observations I make for future reference :)

I don't believe any of us have used it, but I'm sure this question is geared towards the community, we will keep it open until we hear otherwise from ya'. "Hope this does not keep others from reading the post, if you don't want a reply on here let us know I'll remove mine."

BanditBBS, did anything come of this? We are beginning to look at using Nagios to monitor our AS400 installation and are looking for as much information as we can gather. It would be great to hear if you got anything good.

jsharris,

Yeah, we basically sat in a conference room for an hour and tested everything this plugin said it could do. It really seems to be able to do what it says.

Just remember, capitalization matters and to pay close attention to the format of the command you test. If a command doesn't work, play around with the format, as I would venture to say you typed it wrong or the help wasn't descriptive enough :) If it says it can do it, it can. I haven't put anything into production yet, just to darn busy with other stuff, but I was given the OK by my iseries admins.

Cool, thanks for the heads up that it works well!
