Core to XI

Post by BanditBBS »

So, I'm converting a Core install to XI. Basically, I need to take the easiest most direct route to to give them IDENTICAL features. After deleting duplicate settings(time periods, templates) and such, I can apply configuration and everything is good. I log in as nagiosadmin and see everything.

Is it a bad thing if after I create their user accounts, to just copy the "authorized_for....." directives from their core cgi.cfg to the cgi.cfg in the XI server?

Hmm, I've never personally tried this. I'd recommend testing with one user first to see what happens, in theory nagios should still read the authorized_for, as long as you have it in the correct format.

it makes NO change to XI(of course) but he(test user) can now see everything when logged into Core on that box. This serves the immediate need need of duplicating their current setup. Over time I will move more stuff out of static configs and into CCM.

What issues do you forsee? LOL

Dependencies with importing, ie commands, templates\groups\users, hosts, then services is generally a preferred order. Reason being it will not import things that do not have all dependencies met. Other than that, mostly notifications, contacts to users if you choose.
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.
