nagios and software, inventory management

Hello friends!

Does anybody use nagios for inventory management? We are trying to get a handle on software installed on our servers and managing compliance. Or in other words: we wanna use nagios to let us see if when we get audited are we screwed or not. ya'll know what I'm talkin about... :d

You could do this with custom variables set to asset numbers and other inventory stuff. Though I am unsure how far that would get you.

i thought as much. Guess Ill use snmp somehow. Nagios can already verify certificates and display when they are going to expire, so maybe I will go from there. Thanks man!
