Nagios infrastructure assistance needed.

Post by benhank »

Here's the deal: (bad grammer and spellen to follow)

We got some new machines.
We want to rebuild our new environment to take advantage of all the advantages we can gain, which, we feel, will be very advantageous for Us, the Nagios sysadmins adventurers on this Nagios adventure which, will give us an advantage on the adventitious challenges tasks to come.
My My My, look at all them command line linear thinkers frozen mentally as they try to make sence of my seemingly sencelless sentances struckture.

Is it possible to get a diagram of the anatomy of nagios(xi), detailing as much as possible how the components work and interact with each other?
I am trying to figure out how to break nagios up over a couple of servers.
If I had a list of where nagios installs itself (files, folders, config files that it needs or modifies etc), i can properly plan for the "black smoking hole" disaster scenario.
A diagram, book, resource on teh interwebs, some old dude sitting crosslegged on a mountain, (with a laptop, cause brotha dont do no mountain climbin), anything would be helpful.

There is not a diagram 'per se' of Nagios XI's many facets. However, if you endeavor to seek out the knowledge that would allow you to then in turn quest for changes that would allow you to take advantage of every ounce of Nagios XI.. I'd recommend pouring over the Nagios XI Training, and Nagios Core Training handbooks that are sent out as a part of Mike Weber's live training. They will cover just about everything you would want to know on Core and XI, but in a more straight forward manner than just reading page after page of documentation.

ok it got blurry after "i suggest that you"... how dare you make a suggestion like that to a lazy man ... thinking about it now makes me feel faint... someone catch me...and my gut ... Still love yah bro, but that stung. =d

how about this, If I put one together would you guys be agreeable to tweaking it as a side thing, I know ya'll are busy? maybe we can then offer it up to the rest of the family.

btw, my OP the product of my meds (legal), coffee, air pressure, flashbacks, and a whole lotta subconscious hoodoo, aligning in a perfect ...um line, allowing me to compose it in 8 hrs and not the two weeks it would normal have taken. my hed still hert.

After you give me the yea or nay on the tweaking proposal you can lock this un up bro.

Ya post something up, we'll take a look, send some tweaks, and try to hold you back from the figurative cliff!
