can you believe I have never used service dependancy before and now that I want to, the CCM's help just made my head explode!
I want service1 to only alert when service2 is now W, C or U.
The CCM's help doesn't match what the buttons are labeled, so my confusion is finally not my fault! WOOHOO! Which service goes under "Manage Services"...by defualt I know the other will go under "Manager Service Dependencies"
I am pretty sure I know the proper method, but just want to make sure!

Can you elaborate? The CCM's help doesn't match what the buttons are labeled, so my confusion is finally not my fault!

Re: Service dependancy
Yeah, this: does not match the wording of these: So are the services I put under the button labeled "Service Dependencies" the services that depend on others or are the the services the others depend on?lmiltchev wrote:Can you elaborate? The CCM's help doesn't match what the buttons are labeled, so my confusion is finally not my fault!

Re: Service dependancy
I see what you mean...
This confusion is caused by moving all of the "Help" buttons from the Legacy CCM to a one drop-down menu in the "new" CCM. This worked well for the most part, but for Service dependencies, maybe it's easier to use the "Legacy CCM".
Go to: Configure->Legacy CCM->Advanced->Service Dependencies, and look around. Click on the "Help" icon next to each section. Let us know if this is easier to understand.

Re: Service dependancy
I'm still confused by the wording, LOL.
If I want service1 to not be checked or alerted on if service2 is having an issue....which one goes under service and which one goes under service dependencies. I thought I knew, but after reading the help again, I'm more confused.

Re: Service dependancy
You would want to set service1 as dependent on service2.
This may be more confusing but here goes:

Re: Service dependancy
Yeah, I think I got it now. I'd just like to punch whoever wrote that stuff though. The wording could be sooooo much better. If it wasn't so old, I'd blame Trevor, LOL.
