Restrict users to view certain Server

Post by vnc786 »

Hi,
Nagios XI 2012R2.5
OS=CentOS 6.4 4 bit

I have 10 servers which Nagios is monitoring.

I have created 2 users with name one and two.

I want to restrict user one to first 5 server and user two to other 5 servers.

Currently hosts are not added in hostgroup

User one and two should not be able to know each others server

Howerver, i have tried creating 2 Hostgroup with name h1 and h2

i am not sure how do i achieve this any help will be appreciated !!

i viewed this http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtop ... =7&t=21794
thanks

Non admin users are restricted to only viewing the objects they are contacts for. Have you made the users alerting contacts for their respective servers?

Could you clarify?
my first understanding of Contact / Contact group was just that it is "some person address to which nagios send notification" but after your answer I came to know that Contact are not just mere contact but they also act as to restrict view of host/services
just wondering what more can be done with contact / contact group
thank you very much. !!!

Yes, so essentially, if you have a contact assigned to one of your users, if that user is restricted as a non admin account, that cannot control all hosts/services he should only be able to see services under hosts that he is assigned to.
