NagiosXI WMI Monitoring

Post by tgelzaines »

I'm attempting to setup WMI monitoring through Nagios so I can monitor about 50 or so machines on our network. I've ran a test configuration for my office machine and receive the following message:

"UNKNOWN - The WMI query had problems. You might have your username/password wrong or the user's access level is too low. Wmic error text on the next line.

[librpc/rpc/dcerpc_util.c:1290:dcerpc_pipe_auth_recv()] Failed to bind to uuid 4d9f4ab8-7d1c-11cf-861e-0020af6e7c57 - NT_STATUS_NET_WRITE_FAULT
[librpc/rpc/dcerpc_connect.c:790:dcerpc_pipe_connect_b_recv()] failed NT status (c0000022) in dcerpc_pipe_connect_b_recv
[wmi/wmic.c:196:main()] ERROR: Login to remote object.
NTSTATUS: NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED - Access denied"

I'm unsure what I may be doing wrong at this point. I am using domain admin credentials for the WMI Config Wizard, I have added domain admins to the local admin group on my machine and I have also referred to the documentation below and modified permissions as necessary.

Can anyone point me in the proper direction or give me some insight on how to go about this process?

Thank you in advance!

I'm monitoring ~600 machines with WMI. If you don't get a resolution in the next day or two I will jump in and try and help. I'm just a tad busy myself right now.

That would be great. I'll be testing until I can get it working, otherwise i'll be waiting for a response back from you. Thank you!

Did you run through the WMI document here?:

http://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nagi ... ng_WMI.pdf

That should help you verify your windows side settings and configuration.

After reading through the support document I was able to configure my PC with Nagios and WMI monitoring. Thank you! My only concern now is configuring it on the rest of our machines. How can I configure this on a larger scale without having to go to each individual machine and repeat the process shown in the PDF? Thanks again.

Any chance you could share the script? :)

Planning on it, but it wasn't ready for public consumption last check. I will ask him tomorrow.

I would be interested in seeing it as well. The public shall consume. :)
