Strange behaviour of status.dat file

Post by scagno83 »

Hi All,

I am working with a Nagios Core 3.2.3 installation and I am observing a strange behaviour.
When I restart the Nagios daemon I see a lot of message about

SERVICE DOWNTIME ALERT: host xxxx

In the previous days these host were been put in downtime and now they are not listed inside the state_retention_file. It may that the status_file, after the restart, take some information by other file also. I am not understanding what files because the documentation showing that when Nagios is restarted it will use the information stored in the state_retention_file file for setting the initial states of services and hosts before it starts monitoring anything.

Thanks for any help provided.

Many issues with downtimes including the one you mentioned have been fixed since 3.2.3
