A couple weeks ago I deleted a host using the core configuration manager. Logged into CCM, deleted hosts services, deleted the host itself and applied config.
I had considered the matter settled, but this morning we received a notification for a problem with the host. Sure enough, the host still existed in the XI interface, and in /usr/local/nagios/var/objects.cache
When I checked the CCM, the host or services couldn't be found.
When I attempted to delete through XI interface, XI reported that it couldn't find a matching host ID
I had seen similar issues in the past. The solution then was to manually delete the configuration files from the filesystem of the Nagios server. I did this and then ran an "apply configuration" from CCM. After the command completed, I check and found the Host still existing (much to my dismay).
Does anybody know what could be going on here?

Re: Unable to delete host
Nevermind. I tried again and found that I had actually failed to remove the configuration fails from the filesystem of the Nagios server.
Once I successfully removed the files and applied configuration, I found that menacing host was finally resigned to the bit bucket. Thanks!
