change severity for polled ports

Post by deepavaidya »

Hi,
When a switch is down all its interfaces also cannot be polled, it gives the message "WARNING: SNMP error: No response from the remote host xxx" and the severity of the ports is warning. Is it possible to change the severity here to critical ? Please let me know how to do it.

What plugin are you using to check your switches? Did you set them up with the Switch and Router wizard?

I would like to change the severity of the ports to critical if the node(switch/router) is unresponsive.

They should switch once the host goes into a down state however, can you post the configuration of one of your port services from CCM > Services > "click the blue diskette icon next to one of the port services that display's warning when it should be critical" and post it here, thanks!

The severity of the port is critical when it is operationally down, and warning when admin down. This is fine, but when the host itself is down then it gives a message "WARNING:SNMP error: no response from remote host xxx" Is it possible to change it to critical ?

Is this the info you had asked ?
From CCM->services->port status service->info icon

I believe you pressed the blue circle that gives information, not the diskette icon that should provide you with the nagios configuration file. We understand what you are looking to do, however want to be 100% certain which plugin you are using so we know what you can or cannot modify.
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.

Hi,

I have attached the configuration file of a port status service. Please let me know if we can change the severity to critical when the node becomes unresponsive.
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

It looks like when you clicked the info button it showed (172.25.28.220) the configurations you sent are for (172.25.28.221) Is .221 correct?

ya they are different hosts, I randomly selected and gave. Please can you confirm how the severity of the port status can be changed if the node is unresponsive.
