It is reporting a ton of missing headers. Additionally, is this an x86 or x86_64 system?

X86. Please note I have been able to compile all of the Nagios 3.x versions up to 3.5.1

I will test this on a 6.1.1 vm next week. Have you opened a bug report at: tracker.nagios.org ?
