rrd does not exist after wizard rerun

Post by mcleodc »

Hi,

I recently decided to monitor a few extra ports on an already added switch. I deleted the mrtg temp files and re-ran the wizard and it found all the ports I wanted along with the description. I added the ports but get the error "rrd does not exist" on some ports. Some ports have been added fine all switches had already been added to Nagios.

I have checked the MRTG file and can see the port - it is still commented out and has not been updated to show the description. I am running the latest version of Nagios 2011 R1.1.

Could you check permissions? We may have to do something such as running debug in rrdtool.

Hi,

I have clicked on the check permissions option in Nagios CCM - all came back okay.

Is this what you wanted?

Thanks

To back up for a moment, which wizard did you use and how was it configured specifically? (You can leave out any sensitive business information of course).

Hi,

it was the add network switch wizard that comes with xi.

set the ip of the switch and community to public and snmp version to 1 and ticked to scan interfaces. I then unticked all the interfaces that I didn't want molnitored/are already monitored and unticked ping (already set up) and clicked next. Then just selected a contact group, never added any parent or service groups ect.

Thanks

Very odd that some ports work and some do not, I don't think trying 2.c would help as I was going to suggest. I am going to look into this more and see if I can find out what is causing the issues.

Actually, could you test with 2.c and report with results?

Hi,

I deleted the services and tried running again with 2c but got the same result. Have you managed to replicate the issue at all?

Thanks
