Oh no, I meant nrdp via ncpa. For passive checks ncpa has the nrdp protocol fully builtin, and does not rely on scheduled tasks. I suppose I could have made that more clear. All of the checks are internal to ncpa, it just uses the nrdp protocol to forward results if you're not using the ncpa protocol.

so I could still have a central NRDP server but the clients would be using NCPA, right?

All of it would be NCPA installs, just using the NRDP protocol to forward passive checks, no need for an nrdp server other than on the nagios box to receive it.
