Yes, that is totally possible, just click on Manage Hostgroups in the host's CCM page, and assign your groups there.
Re: Nagios host/host group/contact/contact group design
You can assign a host to as many hostgroups as you wish. Hostgroups are nothing more than a logical grouping of hosts and has the ability to be chained.nanz28v wrote:What I meant was can a server, say domain controller, be either in Nan's server host group, since it belongs to me, while at the same time it belong to another host group "Windows 2008 server"? So basically we will have multiple hosts belong to multiple host groups all at the same time in multi-to-multi (cross) relationship between hosts and host groups.
Example
Hostgroup A has the following servers.
Alpha
Beta
Charlie
Hostgroup B has the following servers
Delta
Echo
You can chain Hostgroup B to Hostgroup A and as far as nagios is concerned, Hostgroup B will have all five servers.

I also should note that host and service groups should be used for management, not configuration. Templates are for making config changes to a large number of objects.
