I did not understand what do mean by offload.Can you please explain.
Andy was asking if your mysql database was local (on the Nagios XI server) or not local (offloaded to a remote server). We have a document, explaining how to offload the database here:

Database was local and not on remote server.We have tried backup and restore process document

Actually we want to migrate all nagios and db from one server (rhel5) to another rhel(6).

We did import and export of old data to new one and could see data for couple of minutes but later while fixing nothing was visible.

I could go upto http://servername but not http://servername/nagiosxi

Also since source and dest servers are diff.We tried below steps in restore document and got error.

Code: Select all

cd /tmp/nagiosxi
rm -f installed.subcomponents
./A-subcomponents

vm.max_map_count = 1000000
NOTE: If prompted, enter the MySQL root password
mysql: /usr/lib64/mysql/libmysqlclient.so.16: version `libmysqlclient_16' not found (required by mysql)
ERROR: Subcomponent 'ndoutils' installation failed - exiting.

Can you describe in details how exactly you tried to migrate you Nagios XI instance to the new server. You are moving from rhel5 to rhel6 (as changing architectures, correct?). What are the steps you took? For example:

1. Verifying the old XI server doesn't have any config errors.
2. Backup up XI. Did you follow this document?
3. Installing XI on the new server (clean, minimal install). Is the Nagios XI version on the new server the same as the one on the old server? Can you log in the web interface (Is the new XI functional?)
4. Transferring over your backup from the old server
5. Restoring from the backup. Did you follow the document, referenced in step 2.
6. Can you log in the web interface

We do not have any config error in old one and it was working fine

Followed same document.

3. Installing XI on the new server (clean, minimal install). Is the Nagios XI version on the new server the same as the one on the old server? Can you log in the web interface (Is the new XI functional?)

We had clean new server with rhel 6 with all prerequisites.
Nagios xi version on old server is 2.8c (i think original install it was 2.1 and later it was upgraded to 2.8, 2.9 yet to be installed)
Nagios xi installed on new server is 2.9.

It worked well until import was done.Able to login to GUI and checked services for localhost.

4. Transferring over your backup from the old server
As per earlier communication with nagios team they said backup and restore will take care of entire database and application so we are following the same

5. Restoring from the backup. Did you follow the document, referenced in step 2.
Yes we followed same document.As said earlier in above thread we got error while doing ./A-subcomponents

6. Can you log in the web interface
Prior to import we logged in and could see localhost and all features of nagios.After import only we had issues.
When accessing http://servername we can see nagios welcome page but when i click access nagiosxi link it shows blank page same happens with
http://servername/nagiosxi

...

Can we setup a call and fix this issue.We are near to our timeline and so we need your assistance.I can open ticket if needed.
