Hello-
Sorry for not posting this is the customer section, I applied last week but haven't been approved.
I've got about a hundred hosts that I want to add some simple SNMP throughput service checks to. When I look at the service that I want to replicate the command is listed as "$USER1$/check_rrdtraf -f /var/lib/mrtg/$ARG1$ -w $ARG2$ -c $ARG3$ -l $ARG4$". $ARG1$ is "x.x.x.x_6.rrd" with x.x.x.x being the IP of a host which already has the services applied to it. Since the MRTG graph is pointing to a specific IP, and the "_6" seems to apply to a specific interface on the host, I don't think I can simply apply this to my other hosts as a template. Is there a way to replicate this down without having to recreate the hosts or am I just looking at this wrong?

Re: Existing hosts and mrtg graphs
Well you could use the bulk host cloning wizard, however when setting up checks that rely on mrtg, we generally recommend you always use the Switch and Router monitoring wizard, this will take care of adding the definitions in your mrtg.cfg, and setting up the checks like the one you posted. Have you emailed [email protected] in regards to being added to the customer section? If you are a current customer, and on the list of email contacts, that should be no issue.
Re: Existing hosts and mrtg graphs
Thanks for the heads up on emailing sales, I think I used my personal email to register on this so its likely an issue on my end.
If I do the bulk host cloning wizard will the mrtg definitions be created?

Re: Existing hosts and mrtg graphs
Actually I'm not completely sure to be honest, I would say... likely not, due to how they are created, you could give it a shot! But I would recommend just using the switch and router wizard, it's pretty quick on it's own.
Re: Existing hosts and mrtg graphs
Just encase others look at this; doesn't work in the Bulk Import Wizard because the services are looking for specific mrtg files created during the interface polling portion of the switch/router wizard. I'll probably end up using check_snmp_int to monitor throughput on specific interfaces for these devices. Thanks for the help slansing!

Re: Existing hosts and mrtg graphs
Sure, no problem, I figured that was the case, and found it to be true when I tested on my end as well. Let us know if you have questions when setting up checks with the plugin you mentioned. I'll be closing this current thread as anything from now on will not be regarded as the same question or original issue.
