I am using a NagiosXI 2012r2.9 (VMWARE downloaded from nagios) and another server to MySQL (offloading).
We are monitoring 1600 Hosts and over 6000 Services with a Nagios XI Server with 8 Cores / 8GB RAM / 500 GB Disk, we have some high load avarege some times. MySQL server have 4 Cores / 4GB RAM and it is low load.
We have to add more services, achiving almost 10.000 services for this 1600 Hosts. Almost of this new checks is SNMP bandwidth checks and port status.
We are planning to use DNX to reduce the volume of checks at the NagiosXI server, but we do not know how many DNXs machines I need to implement and what configuration each DNX client must have.
Some one could help me?
Thanks
Gerald

Re: DNX Client HW Configuration
I would recommend mod_gearman over DNX, and as far as quantity, I would say just 1 mod_gearman off the XI server and 1 mod_gearman worker on the server should be fine if these checks are on 5 minute intervals.
the great thing is, if you need more workers, you just bring another up.

Re: DNX Client HW Configuration
I'd recommend a average work server, mod gearman does very well as far as performance goes, you may be able to find more answers on this here:
