I recently deleted a host from the CCM but it still shows up under my list of hosts when i click on "host detail". Upon trying to delete the host via the "Configure" tab and clicking "delete this host. i get the error "Could not find a unique id for this host. Host cannot be deleted using this method".
It tells me to go to the Core Config Manager (i have confirmed that it is not there since i have deleted it from the CCM) and remove it and that the possible causes of the issue are:
Possible causes include...
1. The host is associated with other hosts, services, or objects that need to be deleted first
2. The host is maintained in a static or external configuration file
Option 1 does not seem to be the case and i do not know what number 2 means.
Any suggestions are appreciated ( i have attached a screenshot with the error)
thanks,
Jose

Re: "Could not find a unique id for this host"
Is it possible that you forgot to "apply config" after deleting it in the CCM?

That did not do it
Re: "Could not find a unique id for this host"
How did you originally create the host? Did you use a wizard or manually create it through the CCM?

On rare occasions the CCM can delete a host but fail to delete the actual config file. See the below solutions:

This has solved the issue.mguthrie wrote:On rare occasions the CCM can delete a host but fail to delete the actual config file. See the below solutions:

Removed the files:
/usr/.../hosts/'name of problematic host.cfg'
/usr/.../services/'name of problematic host.cfg'
checked the configuration and the restarted Nagios.
at first i was only removing the file from the hosts directory and it would not resolve the issue. had to do it from both.
Thanks for your help, greatly appreciated!
