Host change across all services

Post by Sbergonzi »

Is it possible to change a configuration for a host and if go across all services of that host? For example, changing the Check_period on host to mon-fri and have that go to all services of that host?

thank you!

That is not possible as you describe it, because hosts and services are separate things.

There is a feature in the Enterprise edition of XI that allows you to make bulk modifications: go to Configuration -> Core Config Manager. On the left under Tools, click Bulk Modifications. You may need to activate your free 60-day trial if you have not already. Back to the Bulk Modification tool, there will be several options, but we will go with the first for Change A Single Config Option. Click that, and on the next screen there will be a dropdown menu for the config settings to change. Choose check_period and set the new value, then choose the hosts and services you want to apply it to on the appropriate boxes. Click save and your changes will be applied!

Ok, thanks. I was going down that path...worked fine! I just had to remember to use the ID value not the Name value.

Great! Any other questions on this or should we lock it up?
