importing service escalations

Post by kendallchenoweth »

I created >100 individual service escalations that were successfully applied and merged into a single file for my running QA instance of Nagios. Each service escalation mapped a single service (and differing parameters) to hostgroup(s) which matched those in use by the corresponding service. I wanted to export them and import them into my production nagios, however I couldn't import the serviceescalations.cfg successfully into another nagios instance. Instead, I copied that file into the static directory on the production instance and everything is working. Am I supposed to be able to export and import service escalations?

If there are any issues and/or restrictions on this capability, do they apply to host escalations as well?

I believe you should be able to, did you receive a specific error when trying this? Did it split the file? We need a bit more information to go on.
