We are using Nagios version XI 2012R2.9 on CentOS 6.5(64 bit), using a manual version of the install, without SSL.
We:
1) Integrated the active directory component.
2) Added a new user in nagios that matched a user that exists in our AD directory. (Windows 2008, FYI). When I added the user account in Nagios, I did not touch the password field...I left whatever was in there alone.
3) When I tried logging into Nagios XI with that user account, it allowed me to log in, which means it must have gotten the information from our AD controller. However, after I logged in, it asked me to change my password.
Why is Nagios XI asking me to change my password if it is authenticating me via our AD controllers? That doesn't seem to make sense and we're wondering what we may be doing wrong.
Thanks,
- Jamie

Re: AD integration with Nagios
It is likely that you left the "force password change on login" box ticked when you created the user, that will likely still function even if you are using the AD component. Try removing the user and re-creating it without that checked.

Re: AD integration with Nagios
When I recreated the account, I was asked to update the password on next login again. So this time I went into the account after it was created, and the checkbox was still checked to update the password, so I unchecked it, and then it was fine.
For some reason, when the account is created, it seems to leave the box checked when you uncheck it.
Not a big deal though. It may be a small bug. I just went in and made the adjustment.
Thanks for the help.

Re: AD integration with Nagios
Glad that worked out for you! I'll make an internal task to test the password change button, I think this is the first I've heard of this issue.
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.
