Service escalation creation issue.

Post by bmiadmins »

Hi,

The existing install of nagios that we have seems to have some issues when trying to create a service escalation policy outside of using the wizard. What happens is that if you choose "Alerts > Service Escalations > Add" the portal opens up. However, when trying to add a service definition using the "Manage Services" button, all services are not available for addition to the rule. While it is possible to see them, the service names are shaded out. That said, adding the service escalation policy using the wizard works fine.

The only issue is that with the service escalation policy wizard its an escalation for each service. I am trying to see if it is possible to set a service group or template, assign that to a group of host, and then set an escalation. Is it possible to do this? I see tons of documentation on creating the service escalation ( which does not work in our case due to the above noted issues )? It would be nice to set a service template and attach that to a group of host.

Any advice would be help full.

You can only assign a host template to a host. You cannot assign a service template to a host. If this is not what you are trying to do, can you explain in more details?

The issue is that I am unable to attach a service to a escalation. Using the GUI, all services are shaded out. I can select host. I am not sure what more detail you want.

I have heard this reported by one other person, but we have not seen this issue inhouse.

Can you provide the following so we can try to replicate the issue?

What XI version are you running?
What browser are you using?

Thanks

Sure.

We are using the following :

Latest Available Version: 2014R1.0
Installed Version: 2014R1.0

Browser :
Chrome Version 35.0.1916.114

This issue shows up in firefox as well. Its odd. Additionally, the escalation wizard will grab and assign the service as expected. However, on some no service is assigned to the escalation, just the host are populated.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

I am wondering if this could have been caused via the recent upgrade. Can you tell me who best to contact regarding our lic? I was thinking of standing up a new instance based off of the virt image that nagios has.

Thanks

I was able to find the bug and it can be fixed by updating the CCM component to the attached

Thanks for providing that! I will take a look at this and then spin up a clone to see how it goes. I will update you with how it turns out.
