Well, the saga continues to unfold...

I uninstalled version 2012 and installed the new 2014, now I am getting this error message when trying to run the "Verify" in CCM:

Cannot find the Nagios binary or no rights for execution!

You shouldn't have to uninstall before upgrading. Did swilkerson tell you to do that in a PM? If so he might know something I don't (and he proves this quite frequently) but generally an upgrade is done in-place.

Can you run the following and post the output?

I tried the in place upgrade and it crapped all over itself.

here is the output:

[root@dennagxis1 scripts]# ls -l /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios
-rwxrwxr-- 1 nagios nagios 668832 May 16 10:07 /usr/local/nagios/bin/nagios

I shotgunned the permissions for nagios and made it 777.

Everything is working now it appears.

Ran the Monitoring Wizard and the configuration took right away.

If you mean the binary of nagios itself that should be fine. If you are chmod 777'ing every file under .../nagios/ and .../nagiosxi/ however, I would caution against that. It may work but doesn't earn you any security points.

Just the binary itself.
