Check for XI updates with a plugin

Sorry to revive an old thread, but I am having this problem. I am behind a proxy and was able to install without much issue. However, the 'Check For Updates Now' button does not trigger a request of the proxy. What have I not configured correctly?

we have a proxy component that can be configured to allow connection to check for updates.
