Issues integrating NNA into XI
Re: Issues integrating NNA into XI
I'm having issues using your version of python - though the issues are a little different. Is there any chance you could update python to version 2.6.6 and give it another test?

I talked to our server guys and this won't get done until December. They are planning on rebuilding our Nagios platform using RHEL 7, which will have a newer version of Python on it. They won't get that done until December though.

That's good news. Is there any chance that you could install 2.6.6 on your current XI box for testing, or is that not an option?
Assuming you're on RHEL/CentOS 6:
After testing, you can remove that particular version of python.
Assuming you're on RHEL/CentOS 6:
Code: Select all
yum install python-

Unfortunately I am at their mercy when it comes to this stuff. There is more than just XI running on this machine and the other things require an older version of python. Doesn't sound like anything can be done regarding upgrading Python until then.
Are we even certain that's the issue? What else can I try?

This in particular is going to be a problem going forward. Our support contract stipulates that an XI machine only be running XI (ditto for our other software), as other software can cause dependency issues, which seems to be the case here. While we're not 100% sure until it can be tested, this does seem to be a likely case. I would strongly suggest to your team that XI (and friends) be run on as minimal a system as you can get away with.lucas.shelton wrote:There is more than just XI running on this machine and the other things require an older version of python.

I'll let them know to put it on it's own system. Is that all we can do until they rebuild the server?

If you really want to you can open an email ticket and we can see about doing a remote, but Python is looking like the most likely culprit here. We can try some other things, but at a certain point we'll need to go back to Python.

No need to at this point. We'll put this on hold until they rebuild everything in an updated Red Hat environment. Also I found out there is nothing besides Nagios XI running on this server.tmcdonald wrote:If you really want to you can open an email ticket and we can see about doing a remote, but Python is looking like the most likely culprit here. Now I'm a bit confused - if there is nothing else running requiring an older version of Python, is there any way you can get your Linux team to do the upgrade ahead of schedule?

No. It's a long story, but it can't be done until December.tmcdonald wrote:Now I'm a bit confused - if there is nothing else running requiring an older version of Python, is there any way you can get your Linux team to do the upgrade ahead of schedule?
