3 days no response

I don't know what it the "average" response time on the NSClient++ support forum, so I am not sure if 3 days with no response is "normal". Unfortunately, this is out of our control. Have you verified that your issue occurs when there is too much output from your check? Have you tried borgified's solution (piping the STDOUT to a file, then retrieving the file later)?

I encountered this issue in version 0.4.3.143 however i was able to get around the issue by piping the STDOUT to a file then retrieving that file later. I verified that the problem occurs when there is too much output by varying the amount of data that would get sent to STDOUT until the problem showed up. I am using legacy mode.

If so where do I do this? what file do I modify? nsclient.ini ??

3.2 Sample: stdout 2 file

This will cause the ouput of a program to be written to a file.

ls -l > ls-l.txt

I believe borgified was mentioning having your check command pipe the full results to a file. For this, you would just add > /tmp/yourlog.txt to the end of the command definition.

I made the changes per my last post

now Nagios reports

The yourlog,txt file was created this is the contents

root@tgcs017:/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects# cat /tmp/yourlog.txt
CHECK_NRPE: Invalid packet type received from server.

If I run this from the Nagios server command line

root@tgcs017:/usr/local/nagios/etc/objects# /usr/lib/nagios/plugins/check_nrpe -H 10.2.8.12 -t 30 -c check_service -a CheckAll CHECK_NRPE: Invalid packet type received from server.

All gives same error Invalid Packet type received.

First thing to try is to upgrade to the latest 4.4.x version of the NSClient++ program on your windows server and see if that helps.
Also, could you post your nsclient.ini file from that server and also any errors from the nsclient.log file?
