Is there anything else running on the the Core server? I would get rid of the other stuff if so.
https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... giosXI.pdf may be of use. If your install doesn't have things in the same locations as the default, then the script won't work, but it should give you some idea. Yes, I know your RAM is in use, but if the system is able to process important things more quickly, it may reduce the slowness you see as a user.
Are you using NDOUtils? If so, you may want to offload your db: https://assets.nagios.com/downloads/nag ... Server.pdf
Again, the document is for XI, but the principles apply to Core.
