If you remove them you would also need to remove them from service groups and escalations

Just for claryfication; i want do delete the host, the first thing i would do, is to remove the host from services => e.g. disk check drive.
But i can't save the setting, i'll get the error message i posted before and we are not using servic escalations.
So i can't go foward..

You would need to remove them from the service escalations as well as remove any other dependencies

once again, we are NOT USING service escalations!!
One example: i want to delete a service (disk-check) from the host, click on apply configuration and the message appears:

An error occurred while attempting to apply your configuration to Nagios Core. Monitoring engine configuration files have been rolled back to their last known good checkpoint.
Error: Could not find a service matching host name 'chnedbsebm004' and description 'DISK-F' (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/servicegroups.cfg', starting on line 31)
Error: Could not expand members specified in servicegroup 'Disk_Check' (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/servicegroups.cfg', starting at line 31)
Error: Host escalation host name is NULL
Error: Could not register host escalation (config file '/usr/local/nagios/etc/hostescalations.cfg', starting on line 1

We have only one host escalation active but this doesn't relate to this host.
So please try to read and understand..

Sorry, I meant servicegroups. It appears Disk_Check has a problem.

Also, something isn't right with the host escalations, can you navigate to that page in the CCM and click the "View Config" icon and show the results

Thanks

the weird stuff goes on.
i had to disable the service checks i posted before, copy it, and use the new one. With that work around i'm possible to make changes in nagios xi but i'cant delete the host of an unknown dependencie ==> Relation to Services, entry: _std-windows_disk-DISK-D - Dependent relationship.
I didn't find the disk check in the service configuration and in the path: /usr/local/nagios/etc/services.
where could i find this template?

Can you go to CCM -> Services and search for _std-windows_disk-DISK-D

hi, i found out that i have to copy the service checks (including host, services, etc), disable the old one and work with the new one. That's a workaround we can accept BUT the issues are ondoing.

I have to stop all services and start services ""DAILY" otherwise no one can set a downtime in the dashboard.
the result is, the dashboard stopps, kicks the person out and login is not possible.
How we can fix that?

IMPORTANT:
the IX issues are ongoing, at the moment we are in a situation where the management questioning if this monitoring is really ok and if we should move to another solution.

I'm starting to run out of argument why we should stay because the issues don't stop, every week is a now problem.
I would a pro form your company who make a quality check if the XI instance is ok and when not, what should or can we do.

best Thomas

If you would like to have a tech take a look at your system you can create a ticket at:
