Hello trgriep
The traps works pretty well without the Variable Bindings.... tested this just before i tried to setup the Variable Bindings.
And yes i always restart the deamon on any change.
So i think the idea with update is o good one .. but atm we have 12.04 lts installed and the latest package from snmptt is 1.3.
So is there any problem to install an higher version as the repository admits?
regards john

There shouldn't be a problem with installing the newer version but you could check their web site for any issues.

Hello again
So i had time to update the snmptt daemon
and still rechecked the submit exec command as standalone command .. works
Do i need to test all traps again ?
or is it enough to use the last definition
Edit: tested with the last defintion .. still the same unknown
may i should update net-snmp too ? .. do i have to obey sth. for nagios when i do so ?
regards john

At this point, you will have to contact the authors of the snmptt software for a fix.
You can try and update the net-snmp tools and see if that helps out in the issue.

....Or to setup a new system on scratch
the only thing what i try is ti update net snmp and then it's enough ...
btw. is the value definition still correct in the last post ?
Edit:
For completeness i have added the 3 other values as well in the definition and retested it .... same result unknown log ...
but the testrap doesn't appear in the unkonw log anymore ...
here is my snmptt handler debug log from the test trap:

No problem, you're not the only one to ever do something like that. The joys of typing into a black box!
Does it appear if you run the tail?
