Vendor Specific Mibs

Post by Pilly170 »

Hi,

I am new to mibs, is there a tutorial I can follow to get me up to speed on this?
I have a few vendor mibs, for example watchguard.

I have a load of text files
IF-MIB.txt
IP-MIB.txt
RFC1155-SMI.txt
RFC1213-MIB.txt
SNMPv2-MIB.txt
SNMPv2-SMI.txt
TCP-MIB.txt
UCD-SNMP-MIB.txt
UDP-MIB.txt
WATCHGUARD-PRODUCTS-MIB.txt
WATCHGUARD-SMI.txt
WATCHGUARD-SYSTEM-CONFIG-MIB.txt
I can look at the contents via IReasoning. no problems. But just want to know a bit more about what I should be doing with them.
Now I don't want to upload for example IP-MIB.txt if it will overwrite the current ones and mess up the installation.

Any ideas?

You may want to rename the mib unless they are identical (being a vender specific mib though, it is most likely not). Have you looked at the snmp traps document and wizard?
