Hi everybody.
I use Nagios Core 3.2.1 on CentOS 5.5 (Final).
What's the Problem?
Somtimes our DNS server doesn't work. When this happens, the sendmail won't transfer the Nagios notifications to the administrators. In that situation, nagios collects many hundrets of aged data records. When the DNS is back again we get all the aged notifications into our Outlook. Sometimes many thousands. Exist there any possibility to delete these old notifications before sending it to our Outlook?
What I've tried?
First I tried to stop nagios, removed /usr/local/nagios/var/nagios.log and startet nagios again because this files is referenced on the Notifications link. No results. When you click on Notifications you see all the outstanding notifications back again. Next I tried to stop sendmail, removed file /var/spool/mail/nagios and restart sendmail again. Also no success. Then I tried to stop sendmail, remove the files in directory /var/spool/clientmqueue and start sendmail again.
Now I have no more ideas where the outstanding notifications are stored to remove it.
Does anyone know the problem?
Can anyone help me, please?
Kind regards
Robert
Remove not used old notifications (aged data)
Re: Remove not used old notifications (aged data)
When the dns server is down, can nagios still reach the mail relay?
Are the emails spooling to user nagios or the root user?
