nagios user password on remote server

Post by zzapper »

Hi
( thought I'd posted this before)

I have inherited a Nagios setup. There is a user 'nagios' on the remote server(s). Presumably the Nagios Server needs to know this but there is no password in resource.cfg. Where would this be stored or is it inherited from the local user nagios? How can I find out what it is?

(Hope this is not too Newbie)

The remote "nagios" user very likely does not have a password as those accounts are most likely used by nrpe. As nrpe is a daemon, the scripts that it runs are run by the daemon, as the "nagios" user.
