Servicegroup escalation

Post by BanditBBS »

If you look here http://support.nagios.com/forum/viewtop ... 897#p56356 it was stated that you can not escalate by servicegroups.

However, if you look here http://nagios.sourceforge.net/docs/3_0/ ... escalation and then search for "All Services In Multiple Servicegroups:" it does say you can escalate by servicegroups. I was about to start configuring this and want to know, which is correct, the documentation or the forum post?

You can select multiple services "in the case of the XI escalation wizard." But servicegroups are not listed there. In core, due to the differences in how default configurations are created and read you can use the core definitions. How/where are you starting to define these?

In static config files. This all goes back to my on-call rotation handling. So, does this mean I will be able to use it since I am doing in static configs?

Based on the documentation provided, it would certainly seem that you can escalate service groups with static configs. It's certainly not something seen often though.
Nagios-Plugins maintainer exclusively, unless you have other C language bugs with open-source nagios projects, then I am happy to help! Please pm or use other communication to alert me to issues as I no longer track the forum.

Well, I'll be attempting it and adding to my documentation for the World Conference if it works :)
