Log Analyzer for Nagios?

My boss has tasked me with looking at log analyzing tools. He mentioned spunk, which has some inter-connective ability with Nagios. Is there any modules or addons that you guys could suggest for log analyses?

There are a number of plugins that check log files for regex strings and the like. Additionally, there are walkthroughs for splunk integration on the web. See the links below:
