Email notification

Post by qsteel »

Hi,

Have configured email notification for services and host.
I have figured that the am not getting notification for all the hosts and service.
For example

FW-DXBJUNI-10375 N/A HOST DOWN 11-09-2010 05:33:17 jeff notify-host-by-email CRITICAL - 192.168.5.1: rta nan, lost 100%

I get the notification from this host, but

NPR-TS2-10881 Printer Status WARNING 11-09-2010 05:52:06 johnson notify-service-by-email Toner Low (Order blackcartridge)
PC-TS2-10596 N/A HOST DOWN 11-09-2010 05:50:26 jeff notify-host-by-email CRITICAL - 10.8.0.61: rta nan, lost 100%

I have recieved notification from either of these.
So is there something am missing out,
I did the the configration the same way for all the hosts.

Let me know if you need any further details.

Thanks & regards
Jeff

You may want to check the following and see if any of these resolve your issue. (Pardon me if you've tried any of these already).

Verify that you have notifications enabled for those hosts and services.

Verify that you have email notifications enabled for the contacts for those hosts and services. Go to Configure->My Account Settings->Notification Methods to see if they're enabled.

Can you get a test email to send correctly?

If you're having email issues for all users, you can also check the FAQ regarding notification issues.

Hmm. Other possibilities:

1) Are you sure you are a contact for the ones you aren't getting notified for?

2) Check the notification time periods for the non-notifying hosts and services

3) Check your user's notification time periods

1) Are you sure you are a contact for the ones you aren't getting notified for?

Yes, I am one of the contacts
Infact there are two contacts mentioned
And none of them are recieving the alert

2) Check the notification time periods for the non-notifying hosts and services
Notification time period is 24 x 7

3) Check your user's notification time periods
Notification time period is 24 x 7

Have attached the screen shot also for the above points
Please have alook
Thanks & regards

Can you locate the following file and post the content of the configuration? (email address removed)

/usr/local/nagios/etc/contacts.cfg
Find the user that you're having issues with and post the contents of that configuration.

When you access the "Contacts" page in the Core Config Manager, are you getting an error that says the configuration file is out of date even after applying configuration?
